a new forest
Recreating a forest
to answer ecological and
climate emergency
I am reforesting a recently purchased lot of land, that was planted with Pinus radiata. The reforestation will increase biodiversity, increase shade, reduce heat absorption from land, soil erosion and wildfires, protect the existing waterways and retain water in the soil. This new growing forest will be permanently protected with a QEII trust covenant.
Reforestation is the best natural way to absorb CO2 permanently thanks to the act of photosynthesis.
This project is completely NOT-FOR-PROFIT. It is purely to
give back to Nature and future generations.
You can be part of this ACTION by becoming a
PATRON FOR CLIMATE
and adopting, gifting or dedicating trees.
An ex-pine farm, thousands of tree felled, thousands of cones left behind to re-sprout, ground broken, slash abandoned...
An urgent matter
Reforesting land and preserving our forest ecosystems are in line with number 13 and 15 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that recommend to halt deforestation, restore forests and other natural habitats that have been degraded and damaged by overexploitation. Substantially increasing afforestation and reforestation are vital actions for mitigating the impact of climate change and conserve and sustainably use biodiversity and ecosystems.
We are creating a new forest by sourcing seeds from our local sanctuary.
This re-growing forest is adjacent to our home-bush reserve, which is a natural source of seeds of native trees and plants. Much of the work is done naturally: birds help by dispersing seeds from the native forest via their droppings, and other seeds are commonly dispersed by the wind.
You can participate to this mission as a patron or volunteer or as a carbon conscious traveler or carbon conscious consumer.
Patron
Patron the project of restoring and protecting while offsetting your carbon footprint. We offer the space on the land for YOUR trees. Adopt a tree for yourself or others.
You can patron for: planting trees, setting up a nursery, collecting and planting seeds, trapping invasive carnivores, weeding the deforested area from invasive plants.
You can send your contribution by email from home, and this will be counted as voluntary carbon offset for your CO2 footprint
Volunteer
Contact us to come and join us in this effort to help restoration.
You can come help in weeding, trapping, planting, measuring tree growth, collecting seeds, nursing seedlings and more
Research & Education
Participate to educational programs and research
You can come to this site to understand the risks of climate change, ecosystem modification and biodiversity loss and learn about regeneration of a forest, sustainable living and how to do mitigation and nature improvement actions.
You can come and use part of this regenerating forest for your research purposes
WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME
Plant trees or send us an email to buy trees to be planted in this new forest
Give up the daily use of car, prefer public transport
Change your car with an electric vehicle
Prefer holiday destinations that you can reach by train
Install solar panels
Use energy efficient appliances
Eat more vegetarian food and limit consumption animal proteins
Avoid flown-in produce
Do not change your e-devices if they are still working
Buy second hand, reuse, recycle
Do not use a dryer for your clothes, use the sun!

We need to quickly protect the remaining primary and intact forests, while increasing reforestation and afforestation.
Up to a third of emissions reductions needed by 2030 for the Paris agreement (less than 2°C) could be obtained with these natural climate solutions.
